Year One. What a day.

The first-ever Wheeler Rally brought riders from Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi to the gravel roads of Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge for a day of riding and racing.

Wheeler isn’t your typical gravel race. Instead of one long point-to-point course, riders raced repeated laps on a 9 mile fast, flat, beautiful loop competing solo or as part of a team. The format made it part endurance race, part strategy, and part hangout - with riders returning to the Rally start/finish each lap before heading back out for another.

The course may have been flat, but it wasn’t east. Very little coasting, some hot August temps, and a few hours in the saddle made Wheeler a race of speed, durability, and smart pacing.

But more than anything, the first Wheeler Rally was about creating a different kind of race experience: grassroots, competitive, scenic, welcoming, and FUN.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took a chance on a brand-new event in its first year. The riders, teams, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who helped make the day happen are the reason there will be a year two.
